James 1:22-25 teaches, we are not to walk away unchanged by forgetting what God reveals about our heart (the mirror in the book of James), but rather to strive to follow Jesus more closely each day in discipleship by loving God and our neighbors. James expands up this in chapter two by explaining that our faith must be lived out in works. Our works are displayed through using our time, talents and treasures to serve our local church, our community and other organizations.
